Ordell Robbie | 2.75 | How to marry a millionaire... |
Cinematographically, the Millionaire Chase is not a masterpiece of the scale of Billy Wilder's comedy. Still it's not unpleasant seeing: humour is not always subtle but this rarely matches together with cantonese humour, characters are oh so cliché and this should please those who are fond of Bollywood comedies, the unappropriate introduction of a thriller intrigue makes it look like the usual Hongkonglike "it looks like nothing but so special and never seen everywhere else in the world" and it's more obvious with a too quick end . But the directing is correct, it's beautifully photographed and it's kitsch, kitsch, kitsch. And the main course is the sung scenes which concentrate glamour, women's clothes coloured the way they were in Hollywood melodramas and naiveness. Not great but good and fresh.
