Born in 1969 in Shanghai, Li Xin graduated from the Directing
Department of the Beijing Film Academy in 1991. After graduation,
he joined the Shanghai Film Studio and has been an active film and
TV director since then.
In 1995, after several years of making TV commercials, Li Xin
presented his directorial debut "Falling in Love" (Tanqing
shuoai). As a filmmaker, he is more interested in how to make full
use of the film medium to tell a story. "Falling in Love" is
composed of two independent stories about "Ai" (Love) and "Qing"
(Emotion), and the two stories converge in the end to form a third
story. The innovative structure and the skillful use of the film
language gave the film an "avant-garde" look. "Falling in Love"
was awaded the best film at the 1996 Film Festival for University
Students. "Dazzling" is Li Xin's second feature.
